Ojai Valley Inn
A week ago we spent three nights at the Ojai Valley Inn where we attended a beautiful wedding. Ojai, being only about an hour and a half drive away, makes me wonder why I don't get up there more. It's just a wonderful place to be. The vision for the Ojai resort began in 1923 when Edward Libbey had plans to build a private resort and country club. He never lived to see it built and after it changed hands and was at one point used as navy barracks, it finally became the the Ojai Valley Inn and Country Club in 1947. From then it was a sought after retreat for the Hollywood elite where the likes of Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy spent time. The benchmark spa was built in 1997 and from then on the property was known as the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa. In 2006 a major renovation was completed all while preserving its original charm.
It was one of the most memorable weekends I've ever had with the combination of this wonderful place, a romantic wedding, and spending time with good friends. I hated leaving what I called our "Ojai Cocoon," but I'm making a point to get back there very soon!
